Yes and No. I wrote Souled.org, which was to be a weekly web novel. About a month after it's launch, I realized that unlike readers of novels, readers of the web will not tolerate a 20 page gap to get invested in the story... They need to be hooked by page 2 in order to get to page 20. This was the groundwork failing of something that had already absorbed 3 years of creative energy into, and prevented me from moving forward with publishing the rest of a story I was no longer excited about, a story that relied on reader participation from a readership that didn't exist and I didn't have the time to build. Having explained that, "Before you can rise from the ashes, you gotta burn baby burn." |
